Our Mission & Values

We are in it for the long haul. We invest heavily in internal expertise, advanced manufacturing technology, and best-in-class equipment in order to provide our customers with long-term savings based on efficiency, quality, and reliability.

Our investments have paid off.  Our employee tenure is one of the best in the industry, ensuring the retention of institutional knowledge to the benefit of our customers. We safeguard our customers’ long-term interests by maintaining both die design and tooling build capabilities in house. We take a hands-on approach with our suppliers, ensuring their quality meets our customer’s high standards as well as our own.

Years of developing long term relationships with our business partners has allowed us to build a resilient supply chain that underwrites our on-time delivery expectations.  Through recessions, pandemics, and shifts in the market, we seek to build a robust organization that will meet customers needs in challenging conditions.

Our History

Our History

For seven decades, Variety Die & Stamping has innovated and expanded, keeping pace with technological progress without faltering in service, quality, or customer care.

In 1954, our founder Robert G. Woods opened Variety Tool & Die on 3115 Broad Street near downtown Dexter, Michigan, where for the next decade the business specialized in injection mold tools for the automotive industry. Then, in the late 1960s, the company acquired their first 35-ton press and began to run progressive stampings.

To reflect this strategic change in direction, the organization was renamed to Variety Die & Stamping Co. The shift proved to be a forward-thinking investment, allowing the thriving company to acquire additional floor space over the next few years to accommodate the flourishing progressive stamping industry.

In 1990, the original location could no longer serve the increasing size and scope of Variety’s stamping operation. The company moved to our current location and continued to grow throughout the 1990s, bringing the facility to 44,248 square feet. With subsequent additions in 2015, 2017, 2021, and 2022, the facility expanded to encompass 96,311 square feet.

Today, Variety Die & Stamping comprises over 70 employees and specializes in progressive dies and production stampings and assemblies. With a strong domestic and international presence in the automotive and lawn and garden industries, Variety Die & Stamping has become a shining example of American ingenuity and innovation in manufacturing.
